In 2026, Jessie Hughes (via her company Fishlegs Studio) founded AI for Women in Screen, a two-day generative AI masterclass created to upskill Australia’s screen leaders for an AI-powered industry. With support from Screenrights, and supported by Screen Producers Australia, Screen Queensland, Leonardo.Ai and Othelia Technologies, the inaugural program brought together 90+ women screen executives, producers, writers, directors, and creative leaders from across the sector.
Held on the Gold Coast at Bond University ahead of SCREEN FOREVER 40, the event became a powerful convening point for women shaping the future of Australian screen. Across two packed days, participants explored practical AI workflows from pre to post, including development, pitching, production, story management, visual ideation, and responsible adoption, fostering hands-on creative leadership.
With sessions led by Jessie Hughes alongside speakers including Othelia founder Kate Armstrong-Smith and Artis Causa lawyer Yasmin Naghavi, the program created an extraordinary network of women ready to lead the next chapter of screen innovation. More than a masterclass, AI for Women in Screen became a movement for practical confidence, shared knowledge, and Australian leadership in AI adoption across the screen industry.
